Letter Number 2

Thursday, January 15, 2009

Dear Family,

This past week has been very hard, and very wonderful at the same time.  For the first couple of days my companion, Elder Huntsman, and I, had some “differences” that we needed to work out.  We are strong companions now, and I know that everything is going to be fine now.

Throughout this week, Elder Huntsman and I have taught the First Lesson 5 times.  It has been somewhat hard for me to teach these lessons because when in school, all we were supposed to write down were facts, no personal opinions.  Well, out here in the mission field & the MTC, it is quite different.  They tell us to speak from the heart and to give our feelings or testimonies as much as possible.  As I said, before this has been hard for me, but I know that I can do it!  My goal right now is just to be the best missionary that I can be!

I would like to tell Levi something very important...MEMORIZE YOUR SCRIPTURE MASTERY!  If you do it in seminary, life in the MTC will be much easier for you.  When you’re in the MTC, you don’t have enough time to be memorizing scriptures.

I ask you all to not worry about me.  I know that I am doing the Lord’s work and he will bless me, he already has.  In the past week, my testimony has grown more than it did in the past 19 years of my life.  I also joined the MTC Choir, believe it or not, and we are singing “Jesus Once of Humble Birth” tonight at the BYU Devotional.  I am very excited for this devotional because Elder Richard G. Hinckley, the late President Hinckley’s son, is speaking!  Today is going to be great!

Don’t worry about me.  I am safe doing the Lord’s work, and I’m happy to do it!  Thank you for all you have done for me!

Love,

Elder Savage
