It’s Been a crazy week...
Dear Family,
It sounds like you are getting all of the rain that Indiana isn't getting this year. Usually, it is supposed to be much greener and more colorful this time of year here, but we haven't gotten the rain for it. It is a little strange.
I have the same opinion about the weather. Sometimes I think that it would be nice if it would just make a decision. I don't like all of this back and forth on temperature.
This week for us has been really crazy as well. Even though neither Elder Kimball nor I moved, we did have a big change. The city of Columbus has three congregations. Two English and one Spanish. Last transfer, the Spanish Elders covered the Spanish branch and also the Columbus 1st Ward while we covered the Columbus 2nd Ward. Now, as of Wednesday, Elder Kimball and I are covering both Columbus 1st and 2nd wards. The Spanish Elders only cover the Spanish Branch. I think that it is going to be a really good thing. Even though it means more work for Elder Kimball and I, it also gives us more stuff to do. We now have the whole city to work in. It is going to be a good thing.
Mom and Dad…I hope that you enjoy your new bed. Being on my mission, I have slept in many different kinds of beds. Right now, I am sleeping in one of the best beds of my whole mission. The owner of the furniture store we live above gave the Elders new beds a while back. They are very comfortable. By the way, we will hopefully, finally, be moving in the next little while. We gave the information to the people in charge, and President Collins sent me a message that, hopefully, we will be moving soon. Then I will finally be able to give you a permanent address. That will be nice!
I am glad that Levi is trying to get into college and hope his ACT scores are good. It will be a great experience for him. I am excited and nervous about going to school this coming semester, but it will be a good thing. Hopefully, he and Annie will both be able to do great on their tests.
Things are going really great here in Columbus. Geneva, our investigator, has been having a hard time quitting smoking. She still has a strong desire to quit though. At church yesterday, she even said that she might try to go to the Addiction Recovery Program the church does. She noticed it on the church bulletin. We are hoping and praying for her. We are also going to offer her a priesthood blessing. She is a strong willed person. Robert is doing well. He has come to church two Sundays now. The YSA Adviser invited him to their Sunday School class, but we are not sure if he enjoyed it or not. Hopefully we can help him.
The new area of Columbus 1 is doing great. We had an appointment with the Wilson family that were referred to Elder Parsons and Elder Johnson (the Spanish Elders). That went well, and we hope that it will continue to do so. Elder Kimball and I are also finding a lot of people to talk to in that area. I think that this is going to be a good thing to have two areas.
It was really cool. Elder Kimball and I went into a random resale store this week to look around. They are always good places to find things like slacks, suits, shoes, and ties. Well, to my great surprise, they actually had a suit for me. I got a nice suit for only $10. That is amazing. Now I can wear the cheap suit for a lot of walking around, and keep the nice suit you sent me for meetings, and I can even wear it when I get home. The Lord really blessed me on that one.
That is really interesting to hear about Austin. So how long has he been in Kentucky then? That is really weird that he has been just one state south of me this whole time. It will be really cool to talk to him after our missions. Especially, after he gets an opportunity to go to India. I wonder what the work is like over there? Elder Kimball and I have been running into a lot of Hindu people here in Columbus. It is interesting trying to teach someone without a faith in Jesus as the Savior.
I will be excited to see all the sewing projects mom has been doing since I have been gone. I am glad that she has found something that she enjoys to do.
Hopefully, we will all be able to survive this coming week. I think that it will start to get very cold soon. Then I will have to bundle up again. I just hope to survive for a little while longer. I think that the coming holidays are going to be fun. Halloween was an interesting one last year. Then Thanksgiving is always interesting for missionaries…a lot of food. After that, Christmas will be great. Especially since I get to call all of you. Then, I think it will be cool to come home and see all of the decorations. I am a little excited.
Thanks for all that you guys do for me. I will be grateful for it for eternity. I owe all of this to you guys. You have supported me through my hardest of times. Enjoy the coming week, and I will be excited to hear from you next week. I love you all very much.
Love,
Elder Savage
