Temple announced for Indiana

Monday, October 4, 2010

Dear Family,

Conference was great. When we heard about the Temple in Indiana we were all so very excited. One of the ladies in the chapel got a phone call, and went outside to get it. There was just a great spirit that enveloped us. I am so excited to hear about it. All missionaries want there to be a temple in their mission. That is a goal of every mission. It is so cool that they are putting one here.

The talks were wonderful. As you said, it is always good to hear from Elder Holland. He is just a powerful speaker. He makes me think of Aaron as a speaker for Moses. He just has that gift to be mighty in word as were the prophets in the Book Of Mormon. I also liked the talk on the 2 different lines of communication with God. I think that it was Elder Bednar that spoke on that subject. I love conference and everything that it offers. I know that if we apply that which we learn from conference into our lives, we will be greatly blessed. I know that they are called of God.

I think that it would be a wonderful trip in the future to come back and visit the temple here in Indiana. I could then also visit some of the people I know here as well. I would love to come back for the dedication.

I don't know exactly what I am going to do with my bike. I haven't decided quite yet. I will let you know when I decide. My bike has a few problems that it needs to get fixed, and I can't decide if it is worth paying to send it home and get it fixed to ride.

I hope that Grandma is having fun in New Jersey. It is weird to think that she is now to the East of me while for so long I have been to the East of her. Hopefully, she will feel up to all of the activities that Aunt Farris and Uncle Frank have planned for her.

The drop in weather hit us about a week or more ago. It has gotten chilly again.  It will be interesting this winter. I wonder how cold it is truly going to get.  They say here that since it was a harsh summer then it is going to be a harsh winter.  We will have to see.

Our investigator, Geneva, is doing very well. She watched most of conference.  She watched the second session on Saturday and most of both sessions on Sunday. She said that her favorite was the last one yesterday. Then, we went by her house last night with Brother Dreschel (our Ward Mission Leader) to teach her a lesson. We taught her about the Word of Wisdom and committed her to follow it. She said yes, and she is planning on overcoming her addictions for her baptism. She is a very strong willed person. She truly has the strength to do this.  She has the will power to do most anything it seems like. She is a great lady!

I don't remember a Mason from middle school. You will need to get his name for me. Then maybe I will remember him. I am really happy for him in deciding to serve a mission. It will bless his life so much. A mission is something that I would now suggest to anyone and everyone. It is such a blessing to be able to serve the Lord. He does so much for us. I feel that I owe Him more now than I did before I left on my mission. He is going to Idaho for a reason. He will be a blessing there.

I will let you know about the college catalog thing in a letter. I am going to call President Collins and find out what he thinks we are going to do about the apartment thing. Sorry for the inconvenience. I hope that we get this worked out soon.

I love you all very much. Take care and work hard.

Love,

Elder Savage
