Transferring on Wednesday...

Dear Family,

Well, I got a call this morning and I am being moved to a new area for my last transfer. I am sad and excited at the same time. One door closes, but another one opens. I will be able to come in working really hard, and push to the end. It will be great. Of course, because of this, I don't have my new address or companion's name yet. I am going to write you a letter today, and when I get moved on Wednesday, I will address the letter from my new address. Then, you will be able to at least know where I am. I will then tell you next week who my new companion is.

Thanksgiving was great. On Thursday morning, we got up and went to the North Side High School to play some Turkey Bowl. It was really fun, but also rainy and chilly. The cool part was that by the time we got running around and playing it was actually the perfect temperature. No one overheated, and I really enjoyed it. After that, we came back, changed, and took a shower. Then, we went to pick up the Spanish-speaking Elders and went to our first party. It was out of town and we had the car, so they asked us if we could drive them there. They even got us invited as well. That was fun! Then, we came back and went to our next Thanksgiving dinner at the Shoaf’s house. They are in the First Ward, and they are a great family. They are also very tall. Their youngest son turned 16 on Sunday, and I think that they said he was already 6 feet 4 inches or taller. He has an older brother that is like 6 feet 7 or 8 inches. We had some fun there. Sister Shoaf asked us what we would like, and I told her that I would like some stuffing. Well, she didn't really know how to make it so she asked a friend to make some for her. Well...it was Gross. It was soggy, and tasted funky. I think that it was an oyster stuffing or something like that. Oh well, she tried, and I choked down a good amount of it before everyone else said it was Gross. Then, I was able to agree.

We also had an invitation to go eat some pie with another set of members, the Hinckley’s, from the Second Ward. Yes, there is some distant relationship with President Hinckley. That was also great! I had a piece of peach, apple, and a small bite of mincemeat pie. It was all good, but the mincemeat was a little strange. Overall, it was a good day.

I really hope that we don't get any of the snow that you guys are seeing. Snow is just an extra problem for us. It adds obstacles in our paths. We really shouldn't be biking in it, and it is harder on our shoes, especially with all the salt that is put on it. The salt just dries out the leather. I just hope that it holds off for a few more weeks. I will live if it doesn't though.

It sounds like you are going to have some fun this Christmas season. Mom, I am very grateful for your taking care of the present for Rylee. I thought that I could maybe get her a present from out here, but there really isn't anything to get her. I think that your idea is much better.

I am getting a little nervous about coming home, but I think that I am also excited. It is a normal part of a mission, but my goal is to "sprint to the finish" as they tell us. I know that the Lord has a plan for me. I just need to do what I can with what I have. He will provide the rest.

I can't believe that it has been almost two years. It doesn't seem possible. Remember that day that you and Dad drove me up to the MTC, and Levi and Annie came in her car. Then you came into the meeting with me, and we got up and left. I still remember it very well.

I really don't remember if I kept my AP English letter or not. I would hope that I did. I don't remember where I would have put it. Will they not give you another copy?

The people we are working with are still doing well. Geneva is still moving along, and I know that one day she will be able to make it to Baptism. Her son is also doing very well. Actually, yesterday, Geneva wasn't able to make it to church, something about family I think. I wasn't at their appointment last night…I was on exchanges. But, I was told that her son Aaron was ready to go to church. It is too bad that he couldn't come, but I am very happy to hear that he was ready and willing to go. They are doing well, and I will continue to pray that they move forward.

The other guy I think I talked about, Scott, is still doing well. We weren't able to meet with him this week because his work schedule kept getting in the way, but he is still interested. He has actually been to church two times now, and we haven't even been able to teach him a lesson yet. Elder Kimball told me that he had a lot of questions at church yesterday. They were lucky because a member of the bishopric and his wife were there. They answered many of his questions, and did it very simply. He even mentioned that he knew he had to be baptized by the proper authority, and I think that he had a question about the Celestial Kingdom. He asked something about whether he had to be married in the Temple to get into the Celestial Kingdom because he felt that he was getting too old to be able to find someone. If so, then why should he worry about getting baptized. Well Sister Fischvogt, the bishopric member’s wife, had a great answer for him that was very simple and to the point. We have some great member missionaries here. I am also very glad that even though I am leaving this area, at least I am leaving it in good hands. Elder Kimball is a great missionary. He is going to do great things for this mission.

I also have written to and heard back from Sarah. She is the one that was baptized right before I left Terre Haute to come here. She is doing great! I guess that she spoke in Sacrament Meeting, which is so exciting. I guess that the bishop told her he was thinking of what calling would be best for her. I am so excited for her. She is going to be such a great asset to the church, and to her family. I hope that she continues to work hard throughout her life.

Thank you so much for everything. Thank you for all the support. I love you all very much, and I want you to know that. Take care of yourselves, and stay safe. I am very excited to see you all soon.

Love,

Elder Savage
