It Has Been a Wild Week...

Dear Family,

How is everyone doing? It is great to hear that things are going well. Things here are good too.

It is nice to be able to stay in the same place for a while. If it wasn't for the investigators though, it seems to be more fun to get around the state and see more. It does make it hard on our investigators when we move, so of course I want to stay for that, but I also have really liked seeing a lot of the mission. I just don't want to leave my investigators behind.

This week has been crazy. I guess I will just go through the week day by day.

Monday 8th

We were having a normal day on Monday until 5:00 pm. At that point, we were visiting a few potential investigators that we had talked to previously. As we started to walk along the street, we got a call from Elder Miller, our District Leader, telling us that we had to be ready in an hour to drive him and his companion out of the area. He was told to get ready to go home early, because they were worried about the storm that was rolling in. Well, that shot our evening, and we brought Elder Miller’s companion back to Connersville with us for a few days.

Tuesday 9th

Mostly a normal day…we just had 3 missionaries in the area. That was the only weird part.

Wed. 10th

We spent the morning in Connersville doing missionary work. The bishop took us out to eat at a Mexican restaurant for dinner. Then, we drove up to Richmond so that Elder Bradford could do a few things that he needed to do up there, and we stayed the night.

Thur. 11th

We went up to Transfers. Elder Pain became our new district leader. We were up in Fishers for a few hours, and we didn't get back until about 5:00 pm. We worked for a few hours and then called it a day.

Fri. 12th

We went and picked up the car from the Elders in Richmond. We drove back and did our weekly planning. Did a little work that night. Crazy night, fight was going on within one of our investigator’s families when we went by. It was very strange.

Sat. 13th

We went up to Muncie to attend the funeral of one of President Corey's Councilors, President Ellis. He was a very good man. The funeral went well. Sister Corey composed a song and put together a Missionary Choir to sing it. It was an amazing song and it went really well. Then, we came back and had a normal day from about 5 on.

Sun.  14th

Church…ended up not even having to talk. The councilor, Brother Parker who asked us to speak, forgot that he had already asked another couple to speak for Sunday. That was weird. After Church though, we had a very good lesson with one of our investigators. She is very solid. She is someone that we can actually trust. If we ask her to do something like read, pray, come to church, and stuff like that, we can trust her to do it. We are really excited about her. She is also very excited to learn. She says that she loves the Bible, but she knows that there is something else out there.

Mon. 15th

We drove up to Richmond for my dental appointment with Dr. Ingram. He is a great guy. He is the Elders Quorum President for the Richmond Ward. He ended up having to give me my first Root Canal. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I don't want to have to go through that again if I don't have to. Luckily, he was a very good dentist, and almost instantly after he was done, the pain was gone. At this moment, it just feels a little sore, like after you get a cavity drilled out and you have to deal with the soreness from the shot. He did an amazing job! I am very thankful that I was able to find a dentist like him to work on my teeth here in Indiana. I will have to go back to the office in a couple of weeks to have the Permanent Crown put in. That will be fun! By the time I got through with the dentist, we found out that we were stuck in Richmond for the night because the roads got so bad from the storm.

Today 16th

We are still stuck in Richmond. We are emailing up here, and doing our shopping up here as well. Hopefully, we will be able to get back to Connersville though, because we have a great lesson planned tonight. It is a referral from a member of the church. He is taking us over to his sister’s house so we can teach her and her daughter who was at church Sunday.

Well, that was our week, and I truly hope it will calm down soon.

Here in Indiana, the missionary work is mostly based on member referrals. We have a much higher baptismal number from member referrals than we do from the people we find on the street. It happens, but it just isn't as common.

It is great to hear that Levi is helping take care of Grandma when she visits. She could use the support, and I bet that she loves spending time with Levi.

The weather out here has been so strange lately. We have had some big storms. I am not sure how many inches at this point, but it just isn't fun or normal for this part of the country. We have gotten to the point that it takes us twice as long to get anywhere because we are trudging through the snow. I just hope that it goes away soon. I can't wait for spring to finally be here. Then, the missionary work will be that much more enjoyable.

I will continue to work hard and stay safe. No harm has come upon me yet, and as long as I listen to the Lord, I have nothing to worry about. If I listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost, I know the Lord won't let anything happen to me while I am out here. Thanks for everything, and tell Aunt Trudy that I am very grateful for the Valentine’s package she sent me. I will enjoy it a lot.

Everyone take care, and stay safe. Before we know it, the snow will be gone and everything will be better. As I said before, I can hardly wait for the spring. Thanks for everything!

Love,

Elder Savage
