The Bike Spill Was No Big Deal
Tuesday, April 27, 2010
Dear Family,
Yeah, I didn't really get hurt from my bike crash. I was just fine. The lady that you talked to was the Bishop’s daughter, Gena Magianius. She is a really cool person. She is in her senior year at I.S.U., and she is really enjoying it. I am thankful for her willingness to help us out. She does a lot for us.
No, I did not get my parcel from Mr. Mac's yet. Hopefully it will come sometime this week, and I will be able to let you know next week that it came. Thanks for sending it to me.
I can't believe that you guys are already almost through another school year. I remember you talking about these same things last year. How your students are acting like 8th graders, and how it drives you insane. I just can't believe that it has been that long already. I don't know what to do with the time. It just keeps flying by.
Our weekend was really rainy. We got a lot of water, and I am glad that I have a nice umbrella to use at the moment. We are outside working so many hours of the day that it is nice to have a small umbrella to walk around with. I found a really cool one at Walmart. It works wonders. Luckily though, Elder Pinckney and I have had the car for the past week so that made things a little easier, but we still had to get out and walk around.
We do not have a new Mission President yet. I have been told that President and Sister Corey have until the first day in July, then the new mission president comes in, President and Sister Collins. It is really interesting how that happens. I was surprised to find out that President Corey and President Collins only have a half an hour together before President Corey has to leave. It is just long enough for them to be shown around the house, for President Collins to see his Office, the board on the wall with the missionaries, meet the Assistant’s to the President, and then President Corey has to leave. The reason for this is so that President Collins has the chance to have his completely own leadership style, unaffected by President Corey. Then, the Assistants will help President Collins until he gets used to it. That will be a crazy transition.
So, I thought I would mention that Transfers are already coming up again. If something happens, then Elder Pinckney and I will be getting a phone call a week from today, as you know, and I will let you know next Tuesday. I am thinking that if anything happens, Elder Pinckney will leave and I will stay, but I just can't ever be 100% sure. So, just be ready for anything.
So, you said that you guys bought some fruit trees. What kind did you buy? Sadly, it will probably be a little while before we can get any good fruit from them, but it will be nice to have. Are the raspberry and blackberry plants supposed to last more than one year at a time as well?
The missionary work is going great here. We have been finding some really neat people. Now, it is just up to us to be able to teach them in a way that the Spirit can testify to them that these things are true. That is the hard part, and sadly as it says in 2 Nephi 33:1, the Holy Ghost can only carry the message of the gospel unto the hearts of the children of men, not into. We can never take away their agency and force them to accept. That is one of the hardest lessons to learn.
I will be really excited to be able to go to the temple when I get home. Like you said, we can make it a big family thing, and have a lot of fun with it. The really weird part is that we may be going to the temple with Levi sometime next year. That will be really strange. It is hard to think about actually.
I had a feeling that Kacen was coming to the end of his mission. I just wasn't exactly sure when that time was coming. It is cool that he was able to serve in Thailand (I think that is where it was at) and that he didn't die from the food. By the way, how is Jordan doing? You guys haven't said anything about him lately. How long has he been out on his mission now? I was just curious.
Well, take care and keep safe. I will do my best to stop having accidents. Tell me how things have been going. Are there any new or cool things out in the world today? A new iPod, gaming system, or something like that would be neat to hear about. I did hear that they came out with this new 3D TV. I think that would be a little weird to use. Also, have they come out with the last Eragon book yet? I was just wondering.
Thanks for everything you do. Have fun, always keep the faith, and trust in the Lord.
Love,
Elder Savage
