Spring is on its way...

Dear Family,
It sounds as if everyone is doing well. I also hope that you were able to enjoy Conference weekend. It was neat to have General Conference on Easter weekend. It just makes the talks very specific to the Resurrection, which is cool.
I really enjoyed listening to the prophet and apostles again. Every time conference comes around I learn a ton. It was really funny how President Monson opened the first session talking about him and his wife. He is a really funny man, and helps us realize that he is as human as the rest of us. I also really liked to see Elder Christofferson get up and speak. There is just something neat about having an Apostle come and speak to you in a small group, and then see him go up to the podium in General Conference.
I noticed this year that they talked a lot about the need for patience. It was pervasive throughout the entire conference. They also talked a lot on the importance of learning in the home, and taking care of the family. I think that it is very important to be a strong unit in the family, because we don't know when things will go bad, and we will only have the ability to trust our family. I don't think that the end of the world will be any time soon, but I do think that things are just going to get progressively worse as time goes on. That is why we truly need to listen to the Prophet’s warnings. If we don't follow his direction, then essentially we are ignoring the word of God. That is one lesson that I have taken from my mission…the blessings that come from listening and following the prophet’s council. There is just so much we need to do though; food storage (which I think we will need sooner than later), a continuously strengthened testimony, family home evening, and all the other things we have been taught. If we do these things, then we will have the blessings of God to guide us through our lives and help us through the hard times.
The weather here in Indiana has been wonderful. Other than the few rainstorms here and there, we have had beautiful weather. Nice and warm with sunlight. The only thing I don't like is the humidity, but if it means no cold, then I will be happy to deal with it. I am going to try and really enjoy the mild heat for now, since it will get very hot and humid in a few months. We have been told lately that this summer is going to be a harsh one. I am going to have to use a lot of sunscreen, and drink a lot of water. The warmth makes the missionary work more productive though. There are a lot more people outside for us to talk to.
My new companion, Elder Pinckney, is from Lehi, Utah. I think that we will get along well.
I got permission from President Corey to give Tanya a call this past week. I wanted to talk to her about her baptism. She said that it went very well, and that the Confirmation the next day also was good. I think that she is going to make a really strong member. She will be a good new asset to the church.
The missionary work is going well. We have found a really neat lady by the name of Leilani Newkirk. The missionaries used to meet with her, but she just wasn't able to do all she needed to do to get baptized. We hope to help her to that point this time around. She is a really nice lady, and she is very willing to learn.
The members here are great, and they are really good at taking care of us. There are also some really good cooks here as well.
I remember the last couple of months of school. They were always the hardest to go through. The weird thing is that the last couple of months of school almost always seemed to take the longest…whereas, the longer I am on my mission the faster it seems to go. I just don't know what to do other than to continue to work hard and enjoy it. I just wish that life would slow down, and I could go back to a younger, easier age. That would be enjoyable.
Well, I hope that you all take care of yourselves, and enjoy the coming week. Hopefully, you will be able to see some warmer weather the next few days, and that all of your plans will work out for the best.
Love,
Elder Savage
