We’ve Been Blessed

Dear Family,

Things in Terre Haute are going really well. We are still teaching that family, the Millers, and they are doing great. Last time we went by the first thing we asked the 10 & 11 year old getting baptized, was "Why are you getting baptized?" We were happy to hear them reply, "So that we can be cleaned from our sins". I can't believe how fast they all are learning. All three of them; Tina (mom), Cali (11), Christopher (10), are planning on getting baptized on June the 26th. It is a great blessing that the Lord has directed Elder Udy and I to such a golden family. It is a miracle to me. Now we are just hoping that Chris, the father, will come around so that the whole family can be together. That is our next goal. We aren't too worried about Tina's testimony. She has an amazing testimony. It’s much stronger than any would expect in such a short amount of time. She was taught about the Law of Tithing in church on the 23rd, and by the 30th, she was asking a member of the church how she could donate tithing. Some life-long members have a hard time following the law of tithing, and here is Tina, who has only been learning for a few weeks, and she is already happy to pay what she can. I can't believe it. It is so cool.

The weather here has been interesting. I don't think I will ever complain of dry heat again. When it hits 80 in Utah, you have to do some kind of physical labor for a while to begin to sweat. Here in Indiana, we just have to walk outside and we start sweating. When I come in for a break, or at night, and take off my backpack, my shirt is so wet. Then, if I forget and sit down at the couch, it feels very cold to my back. Some what of a shocking experience. I think I am going to have very dry skin when I get home.

I am happy for Annie and her graduation. It would be so cool to be done with school, and be able to just go out and get a job. Pharmacists are so needed that it shouldn't even be hard to find one.  Hopefully, she will be able to enjoy being out of school, and into regular life.

I am really happy for Levi. He already has a GED, and he is going to start school. I would encourage you to start him with just some fun classes in different subjects. He will be able to get some credits in, and find what he might really enjoy. Hopefully, he just doesn't get so into it that he won't want to go on a mission. I have to say that there is nothing in the world I would replace my mission experience for.  This time has been the best year and a half of my life so far. I want him to be able to experience it as well.

I think that it is also cool that he is going to be able to learn to do some work around the house. I wish I could do that stuff. I am jealous that he is learning some cool things at such a young age. I actually want to take some automotive classes when I get back home. I would like to be able to change my own brake pads and belts and things like that.

Tell Mom to not worry about my clothing issues too much. I am going to try to get some pictures made today so that you can see the shoes that I like. I am also going to try and take my suit slacks to a seamstress in town. She said that she could probably help me, and if she can save the slacks, then why not let her. I will try that, and if it doesn't work, then I will let you know next week. Don't stress over it. It is always good to know that you guys are there to help me when I need it.

As I said before, things are going great here with the missionary work. We are finding a lot of people who are willing to learn, and lately we have been running into a lot of less-actives as well. I just can't exactly figure it out to tell you the truth, but I am happy for God's direction all the same. This work would be impossible without it.

Thanks for everything you have done for me. I don't think that I could be out here without you. It is wonderful to know that you have a support system back home that cares about you. I don't know how some of these missionaries do this work without it. I love you all very much.

Love,
