Baptisms on the Horizon

Dear Family,

It is good to hear that you have healed up from the sicknesses last week. It isn't ever fun to be dealing with that kind of stuff. I bet it is also nice to be able to look at the work that you did at Aunt Trudy's and feel proud of your work. Hopefully, next time something like that comes up I can be home and able to help. It is always helpful to have an extra set of hands.

Hopefully, Grandma and Ed had some fun on their tripping. I bet that Aunt Norma was glad to see her again. It would be very difficult to work in the mission office. So many responsibilities…they have to keep track of all the information for the missionaries. All the mail coming in would just cause stress.  We actually have two Office Assistants at the moment helping the office staff and President Corey with what they need. I guess they expect things to get a little crazy up there for the first few weeks that President Collins is here. I can't believe that President Collins is going to be here in about 8 or so days. That is nuts. I just don't know what to expect.

Things have been very calm as far as the weather here the past week. Just Hot! I forgot how windy it gets in Cedar. That is too bad about the tree out front. I think it is going to look a little weird without it there any more. Hopefully, you can find a replacement that will hold up to intense winds. It also sounds like you are going to have some fun tearing the tree roots out of the ground. That is a mess.  Well, if anything like that happens when I am home, I would be happy to help. Actually, speaking of tornado's, we had one not too far from Terre Haute about a week ago. It almost hit a little town called Spencer, Indiana. It just missed it by about 2 miles. It isn't that far away from here actually.

It is really cool that you guys are using the gardening boxes out back. Actually, I thought it would be fun to plant a garden next summer when I get back, so maybe that will make it a little easier for me to help out next year. I love tomatoes so that was definitely one of the plants that I wanted to try. It will be cool to hear how that goes for you.

I forgot, who do I have for Christmas this year. I thought it might be fun to get them something from Indiana to send. Just let me know who and if you think that it would be a good idea.

It is interesting being a District Leader now. On top of the normal missionary stuff, I have extra things to do now. I have to call the other two companionships in my district every night. I have to give trainings about 4 times a transfer, so that takes some preparation. I also have to get information from each area once a week. Basically, my small bit of personal time I had is almost non-existent any more, but it is worth it. I can already tell that if I do what I am supposed to, then the Lord is going to bless me. I have seen that too much on my mission to not know that it is true.

Our investigators are doing well. We have baptism dates with four of our investigators at the moment.  I am also excited because Tina Miller asked me to confirm her after her baptism, and her daughter Cali said that she wants me to baptize her. That is going to be cool. I think that I may buy a new white shirt at Walmart next week so that the white will match my white pants and tie. I actually have a really cool story about our investigator Addie with a baptismal date. We were on exchanges with the Traveling Assistants on Saturday. I was with an Elder Jeppson. We went out to work in the morning, and we went to go by and visit Addie. She was a potential investigator that Elder Udy and I found. She answered the door and asked us, "Where have you guys been?”…that was cool to hear. Then, we proceeded to sit down and teach her the first lesson. At the end, we committed her to be baptized, and even cooler, we set a tentative date for it on the very first lesson. I have never done that before, and it was so amazing to do. I truly love this missionary work. I will keep you updated on further meetings we will have with her.

Thanks for sending the shoes. They haven't come yet, but they will. I will let you know when I get them. They will be put to great use. The others lasted for this long, so I think that this pair should do a great job.

Thanks for everything. You guys do so much for me. Let me know if you have any questions. Also, let me know if I can do anything for you. I love you all very much. Take care of yourselves, and I will talk to you next week.

Love,

Elder Savage
