Been Doing a Little Gardening
Tuesday, June 8, 2010
Dear Family,
Things are going well here in Terre Haute. Our investigators, the Miller family, are doing great. They are progressing towards baptism. Tina had a smoking problem, but as far as we know it is, or is going to be, a thing of the past. We are really excited for her. Her kids are also doing great. We are going to have to move their baptism a little farther back, so that we can teach them everything that they need to know, but that will all work out in the end. We have also been finding some more people to teach. Things are great.
As you probably know, another Transfer is rolling around. Elder Udy and I are not sure exactly what is going to happen. Anything is possible. I just figured I would remind you that it was coming up again.
I think it would have been fun to make that trip to Reno. I like taking road trips, even if it is just to go help someone move. It is still fun to do. I have done a lot of moving on my mission, and I think I have gotten a little better at it. I have also done a lot of gardening this past week. We helped this lady last Saturday whose name is Tamar. She calls herself a Russian Jew. She actually grew up in Israel. We helped her do some sweeping and other things, and we also helped her fix her flower box. Because missionaries aren't allowed to use power tools, I had to cut the wood with a hand saw and take the old screws out with a regular screwdriver, and they were rusty. It did make me feel good to help other people though. We also helped one of our investigators by the name of Nikki do some gardening yesterday. We planted a bunch of tomato plants and some strawberry plants. Then, we went into her flower box around her big tree in the back yard and did a lot of weed pulling. It was fun! We got some good exercise, and we also got to wear something other than a white shirt and tie for a few hours. It feels good to help others.
It sounds like you are up for some really fun stuff the next few weeks. The painting sounds fun! I think that it would be a cool job to do. I think that it would be a really good thing for Levi to learn to do. It will help in the future.
How is the ACT test thing working out? Hopefully, Levi will be able to take it and keep himself busy next year. It can get boring having nothing to do for hours a day. It would be good for him to get some school done as well. It’s always nice to be able to get some out of the way.
It has been really nice here lately. Actually, it hasn't even been extremely humid, just nice. I know that it isn't going to last, but I will enjoy it while I am able.
I am going to try and send some pictures this week of my shoes. Sorry that I didn't get them out last week. I took quite a few hoping that they would work. Let me know. Thanks for all that you guys do, and just keep me updated. I love to hear from you at home. Have a great week, and don't push yourselves too hard. I love you all very much. Take care.
Love,
Elder Savage
