We Had Another Great Baptism
Monday, August 30, 2010
Dear Family,
Well, we had a great baptism on Saturday and a wonderful confirmation on Sunday. The Bishop baptized Sarah on Saturday, and she had a lot of family there. It was such a big group that we had to move it from the relief society room to the Chapel. Her Uncle and Aunt, who are active members from Laporte, Indiana, were asked to give the talks. Her Aunt spoke on Baptism, and her Uncle spoke on Confirmation. It was fitting too, because her Uncle then confirmed her on Sunday. It was great! Elder Worden gave the Opening Prayer, and I did the Closing. We were also the Witnesses to the baptism. Then, we got to stand in the circle when she was confirmed on Sunday. Sarah is going to be such a great asset to this Ward. I am definitely going to have to keep in contact with her. She and I also have similar personalities. It made things so much fun. She even made me a list of music I will have to listen to when I get home. It was so cool at the baptism because her parents, who aren't very active in the church, and her non-member husband came to the baptism. Even Joe's (her husband) mother came. She had a lot of support. I hope that Joe will come around one day. She is going to be a great influence on her family.
I can't believe that you have been in school for three weeks now. Time really does fly by. Actually, transfers are coming up this next week so if Mom and Annie want to wait to get me my college catalog until they know where I am going to be that would be great. I don't want them to send it to the wrong address because I get transferred somewhere. I really don't want to be transferred though. Hopefully, I will be able to stick around here a little longer.
Well, I guess you guys have some fun things to plan for this coming holiday season. I guess that means the stress won't be on us next year when I am home. By the way, I was thinking about it, and I think that if anyone is going to get me presents this year, I would rather they just give them to you guys, and then you can hold on to them for me until I get home. It would be cool to get some presents, but that also just means more that I have to send back home or cram into my suitcase.
I bet Mom is enjoying the extra free time that she has. I know that Mom is working part time, but what does that mean? I was just wondering. I was also wondering if Levi was going to be joining me for the spring Semester at SUU? I think that it will help him get used to a schedule again. That is one great blessing of serving this mission. I have learned the blessing of a schedule. Without it, it is so hard to keep myself going.
The garden sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe we can do another one next year, and I can help out. There may even be berry's next season. What kind of Squash did they plant? The long skinny kind that Mom slices up and fries, or the fatter kind that she chops into squares and bakes? Or, I guess it could be an entirely different kind as well.
I can't believe how fast my mission has gone by. It just flew. I remember when I first came out, and in the first District I was in, I think that I was the only missionary who had been out for less than 6-7 months. Now, I am in a district in Wabash, and there is only one missionary who has been on his mission longer than I have. The really funny thing is that I am even physically older than him. I think that I am about two weeks older than him. It is just so weird to think about.
Well, thanks for all that you guys have done for me. I know that I wouldn't be able to serve my mission without you. I owe so much to you. The work is going great. We have found a couple of really cool new investigators who have a lot of potential. We are teaching an older Lady named Sister McDonald. She was praying to God for more truth, and then Elder Warden with another Elder on an exchange, knocked on her door. It is really cool how missionaries are able to answer people’s prayers. We are also teaching a newly married couple. They got married around a month ago. Megan is a member who isn't very active. Her husband isn't a member. He is interested, though, and hopefully we can help them both out. The Lord has blessed us so much.
I love you all very much. Take care and be careful. Thanks for everything.
Love,
Elder Savage
