Dear Family,

I am now living in Columbus, Indiana. I have the address to our new apartment, but there is a problem so I don't know what is going to happen. We had a single female move into the apartment across from us. It may be a problem just because of the way the apartment is set up, so we may have to move out. I have to get in touch with President Collins, and let him know. I need to see what he has to say. I will let you know what is happening as soon as possible. I will wait to either tell you my address next week, or I may be able to send it in a letter later today. Sorry about the delay. If you do need to send anything really bad, just send it to the mission office.

My new companion is Elder Kimball. He is distantly related to Heber C. Kimball. He has been out on his mission for 5 months tomorrow. It was a little difficult getting moved from Terre Haute, but I think that I am going to like it here. There are a couple of things I can tell you about Columbus. It holds the main headquarters for Cummins diesel engines. It’s currently ranked 11th on the list of safest cities per population in the US. It also has 3 LDS congregations, 2 English Wards and one Spanish branch. I am in the Columbus 2nd Ward. When we went to the church on Sunday, it was amazing to see so many members. They have a "Utah Ward" sized meeting. It was amazing to see.

It sounds like Mom has everything under control for her job. Hopefully, she will be able to enjoy working with someone else, and that she will be able to get some good days and time off.

That picture I sent was at our meeting with Elder Golden of the 70’s. You can also see President and Sister Collins in the picture. I wonder if my hair is going to change colors when I get home and don't spend as much time outside every day.

Everything is going well. I am doing great. The missionary work is going very well. I think that the Lord has taken pity on Elder Kimball and I at the moment because we got double-transferred (whitewashed) in. That means that this is a new area to Elder Kimball and I both. So, we have to get to know all of our investigators together, and get to know the area together. It has been a lot of fun. I think that the Lord has taken pity on us because we have been able to find a lot of great people in the past few days. We have also been able to get to know each other really quickly. It has been a big help.

Thanks for the information about Carter. I will have to write him if I have the time.
